Some Spoilers
I am very excited to report on some hands-on experience with Just Cause 4. Avalanche and Square Enix have brought us the next installment of the best in class sandbox game, Just Cause. Bringing back all our old favorites like the grappling hook and wingsuit, but introducing a whole new line up of toys to play within the sandbox. The game developers boast a huge amount of combinations with the new gadgets. Some of the dev’s even demonstrated how to quickly turn a tank into a floating warship with jet propulsion.
Now for a little backstory. It has been three years since liberating Medici in Just Cause 3 and Rico is in search of answers after receiving tragic news of his father’s mysterious death. Rico thinks his father’s death may be linked to abnormal extreme weather on the island of Solís. On this unique island of Solís, four biomes exist simultaneously with extreme weather on each biome. Solís consists of rain forest with tropical storms, grasslands with tornadoes, the desert with sandstorms, and the alpine with blizzards.
In addition to all those dangerous weather types, there are also some other dangers to worry about, some really angry enemies. The island happens to be the home turf of the Black Hand, so this is Rico’s biggest challenge so far. There are new elite combatants equipped with special tech like deployable shields or actually really good stealth armor. Beyond advanced troop types the Black Hand also is testing and developing their latest weapons and gadgets here so you get to fight off cutting-edge drones and experimental weapons like lightning guns (extremely fun to use.)
I was already a fan of the Just Cause games but this installment really pushed the envelope for me and is proving more and more that it is going to be a really fun game to play through and return to mess around, just cause. This game was so fun for me during my hands-on time, I nearly overstayed my welcome playing until I was the last one left in the building without even realizing it. The fun won’t stop after the game is released either because they already have started working on the DLC.
JUST CAUSE 4 is slated to release December 4, 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can pre-order the game right now.
