Kandagawa Jet Girls is an anime television series that aired from October 2019 to January 2020. Since the final televised episode aired, creators Kadokawa, Marvelous and Egg Firm transformed the story into high speed racing videogame. Collaborating with publishers, XSEED Games, the racer will be released this summer for the PlayStation 4 and Steam.
Plot
In a futuristic world, the state of the arc sport has arrived, jet racing. Tokyo is home to the new and famous game, offering advanced jets that sports two riders at a time. The driver of the jet, a Jetter, is paired with a Shooter who fires at other racers using various forms of water guns.
Kandagawa Jet Girls offers seven teams to choose from, including individual storylines within. The recently released game offers both single player campaigns and online racing with up to four players. Grand Prix races and Time Trials are other options to play from too.
Gameplay
If you have played a racing game in the past, the learning curve for this game will be quite easy. Kandagawa Jet Girls does a great job at making the controls playable for all. Having the option of switching the controls between team members was a great way keep players highly entertained as well.
My Personal Experience
Kandagawa Jet Girls is a simple, yet solid racing game. Offering a high amount of customization, the graphics is paired perfectly to display enjoyable visuals. The overall game mechanics was smooth and easy as well. Although the controls were able to be picked up quickly, the races itself was quite a challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed the vast number of upgrades after completion of races and obstacles.
Although the plot was not my cup of tea, I was still very entertained throughout my playthrough. When searching for games of this variety, I yearn for the actual racing mechanics itself. If I have had watched the show prior, I would believe Kandagawa Jet Girls does an excellent job telling a story. My personal attachment to this title is low but fans of this series will be very into the racer title.
The Final Verdict
This waveracer is action packed and highly engaging. The graphics are outstanding, and I found myself very impressed after completing the game. Fanservice is through the roof and I applaud the developers for providing fans this game. Even if you are not a fan of the anime, if you are looking for a mindless racer, this game could still be up your alley.
Final Score: 7/10

PlayStation 4 Review
Video games have played an essential role in my life since my parents purchased me my very own GameCube. Countless years and games later, I still have appreciation and love for the gaming community and culture. My passion for a variety of games has kept me close to many friends and roommates over the years. Starting in the fall, I will be embarking on my final year at Michigan State University. I am very excited to see what this year full of gaming will pertain.
