Battle it out in Tetris 99 with a visit from the toughest little pink puff this side of Dream Land in a special Kirby Fighters 2 themed 19th MAXIMUS CUP!
This coming weekend’s 19th MAXIMUS CUP event for Tetris 99 allows you to earn an in-game theme based on the Kirby Fighters 2 game. Now you can channel your inner fighting spirit into the Tetris 99 game on the Nintendo Switch system as you aim to hit your opponents with a flurry of Tetrimino-clearing combinations in this action-packed MAXIMUS CUP.
The Tetris 99 19th MAXIMUS CUP event runs from 11 p.m. PT on Jan. 7 to 10:59 p.m. PT on Jan. 11. To participate, Nintendo Switch Online members* just need to play the Tetris 99 online mode during the event period. Players will earn event points based on their placement in each match. Once players have accumulated a total of 100 event points, a new theme will unlock, featuring background art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by Kirby Fighters 2.
In Kirby Fighters 2, Kirby fights to be the last one standing in the treacherous battle tower. Kirby delivers a madcap gauntlet of attacks to each battle, with a selection of 17 of the most iconic copy abilities from throughout the Kirby series, like Sword and Cutter. Kirby Fighters 2 also marks the debut of Kirby’s new Wrestler ability. A free demo of the game is available in Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo Switch Online members can also enjoy online play and the Save Data Cloud feature in a large selection of compatible games, along with access to 95 classic NES and Super NES games, a smartphone app that enhances features of supported games, and the competitive online battle game, Super Mario Bros. 35, playable through March 31. Compete with other players to emerge as the last Mario standing. Keep an eye out for regularly held Special Battles in which you can challenge other players in a set order of courses and special conditions. Put your Mario skills to the test as Super Mario Bros. gets turned on its head for the ultimate battle royale.
