Today, British musician and composer Zayn Mailk was revealed by Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. (KONAMI) as the first-ever Shadow Duelist in the most recent Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL tournament. On the last day of the Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL tournament, the multi-platinum selling music artist, singer, and composer revealed himself as the Shadow Duelist live on stream.
Malik concealed himself for days under the guise of Nocturne, a mysterious character with a horned mask, and teased followers on social media with cryptic messages about who he really was. The first round of the Shadow Duelist competition began on August 28 and culminated in a livestream of the finals earlier today, where duelists engaged in intense combat.
The winning Duelist received Nocturne’s distinctive mask, which had Malik’s signature on it. Malik, a devoted Yu-Gi-Oh! enthusiast, spoke with our tournament hosts about his love of the game.
The thrilling season of duels that lies ahead of us begins with the action that took place during the Shadow Duelist competition. The world’s best Duelists will compete in Seattle, WA from September 7–8, with the goal of becoming the King of Games in four different categories. The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will take place there.
