Kyle McCarley and Yuki Yonai Join Voice Cast for Slave Zero X

Slave Zero X, with its anime-inspired energy, is not only voiced in two languages – English and Japanese – but features unique digital and physical editions with specialty content via territory-specific distributors.

Two new voice talents have joined this already stacked roster: Kyle McCarley, known for his work in Starfield, Mob Psycho 100, and NieR: Automata, and Yuki Yonai, known for Cheerleader Boys!!, Super Bomberman R, and THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS U149. Kyle McCarley joins the previously announced English voice actor cast as Uriel, the Third Calamity of the SovKhan, while Yuki Yonai is the first to be announced in the Japanese voice actor lineup as Slave Zero X’s protagonist, Shou.

Kyle McCarley — Uriel (English)

Kyle McCarley is an American voice actor best known for voicing Shigeo Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100. Kyle has also lent his vocal talent to titles such as Starfield, Nier: Automata, Fire Emblem, Star Wars: Visions, Beastars, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, River City Girls 2, and a litany of others. Now, McCarley has lent his talent to the English voice of Uriel, “The Fire From Heaven,” further bringing to life the world of Slave Zero X.

Uriel is the third member of the Five Calamities, the innermost circle of generals who answer only to the Sovereign Khan. His earnest, heroic, and dangerously naïve nature makes him the perfect pawn, viewing the SovKhan as his father and God. His belief is both devout and ferociously misguided, believing the SovKhan is a force of good in the world – and will do anything to stop those who would stand in his way.

Yuki Yonai — Shou (Japanese)

Yuki Yonai is a veteran Japanese voice actor with credits ranging from D.Gray-man Hallow, Cheer Boys!!, Komi Can’t Communicate, and many more. Yuki brings nearly a decade of voice-acting experience to the role of Shou’s Japanese voice, promising a viciously good performance and fleshing out the interesting subversion of the character.

As previously detailed, Shou is the protagonist of Slave Zero X. Several years ago, a fellow guardian and friend of Shou vanished on his mission to kill the Sovereign Khan. Given a chance to defy his Master’s orders and seek revenge, he seizes it. He is driven, reckless, and will not rest until the SovKhan and the Five Calamities are dead.

The newest title in the classic Dreamcast Slave Zero franchise will bring a whole new side-scrolling hack-and-slash experience to fans of the original game. A satisfyingly punishing game, Slave Zero X sees players fusing with a sentient death-dealing biosuit to do battle against the violent forces of the tyrannical SovKhan. Featuring multiple gameplay modes and a variety of futuristic 2.5D dystopian urban levels to battle through, players will string together brutal combos and fight through waves of genetically enhanced biopunk opponents — all to the tune of a gnarly synth soundtrack.

  • A 2.5D Environment Worthy of H.R. Giger: Battle your way through massive levels and boss-rushes in a lo-fi blend of 2D and 3D art reminiscent of the 90s Dreamcast era
