A new Laser Disco Defenders video game for the PS Vita takes players back to the 70’s for some fun disco fever. Excalibur Publishing and developer Out of Bound Games announced that gamers will not have to wait long; it is due to be released by Sony in July 2016.
This throwback wonder features a retro vibe that will appeal to nostalgia lovers and old school gamers alike. The game even features the signature music of the era, the one and only disco, throughout each level for a groovy background soundtrack. Based on play style, Laser Disco Defenders is likely to appeal to fans of Nuclear Throne, Binding of Issac, Super Stardust HD and Geometry Wars.
The game itself follows a procedurally generated structure, with players needing to complete each level before moving on to the next. Clad in outlandish disco attire, characters move through each level, destroying the evil Lord Monotone’s minions, with the goal of preventing him from using the Mirror Moon for evil deeds across the galaxy. Players destroy the enemies by shooting them with lasers, but players must always be on their toes because their own lasers can ricochet off the walls of the level and come back to hurt them.
Aside from playing their way through the levels, players have extensive options to customize their characters with different outfits and accessories to truly capture the fun of the disco era. Some customizations even have special properties, providing upgrades to a character’s stats or abilities.
