e-Sports are in a great demand, and every year there are new competitive e-Sports games being released with different genres. Laser League is one such competitive game, developed by Roll7 and Published by 505 Games.
Laser League has a different genre of game, and developer Roll7 has a done a really good job coming up with the idea of Laser League. The game can be played against other players online or locally vs AI. As the name already explains, the game is all about lasers. There are 2 game modes that can be played as, 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 matches. It is pretty much a team game.
The objective of the match is to take out the players of other teams, as long as one player is available there is a possibility that other player of same team can revive the player which is knocked out. There are random laser obstacles spawned, each team has to take ownership of the random laser obstacles, and if player of other team touches the laser they get knocked out. The arena of the game is rectangular, but player can wrap around the borders of the wall and they have to use strategies to quickly encounter the lasers and trigger them using wrap around mechanism.
There are different types of players which can be selected, each player has different abilities that they can use, such as, Stun, Blade, Armor/Shield, Hacking, or Stealth. Based on the selection, the strategies change and you can use the abilities of specific class of your player to attack the opposite team.
Laser League has been made with a simple concept but still has a lot of varieties in it. The arena design is also such a way that different laser trigger spawn. In addition, player skills can be used to successfully alter the course of game any time.
Overall the game has a lot of potential becoming Rocket League of its own, and with such great graphics and gameplay designed using Unreal Engine, this game is a great addition to the e-Sports. I haven’t seen any problems so far in the game nor have I gotten bored of playing it. I would give this game 9 stars.
