We tried out the Lost Ark Closed Beta, which is getting a release March 31, 2022, via publisher Amazon Games. Lost Ark is a free-to-play MMORPG developed by Tripod Studios and Smilegate RPG. The game is already available to play in the Korean region.
Lost Ark is an action RPG similar to Diablo, but not Diablo at the same time. The game starts off with a character creation and allows you to select different classes, which feel very unique in themselves.
The Following are the Available Lost Ark Classes:
- Warrior contains Berserker, Paladin, and Gunlancer subclasses
- Martial Artist contains Striker, Wardancer, Scrapper, and Soulfis
- Gunner contains Gunslinger, Artillerist, Deadeye, and Sharpshooter
- Mage contains Bard and Summoner
- Assassin contains Shadowhunter and Deathblade
Lost Ark also provides some amazing options for players to provide customized characters with some cool options.
The characters are very cool and introduces us to the back story and the lore slowly as we move on through the stages and exploration areas. Controls are very much mouse-based for movements and basic attack and skills are on keyboard. Pretty much, skill points can be utilized to upgrade a tree and gain additional skills. Items can be linked to number keys for usage. I believe that the sprint option is not available, but there is a faster travelling option available by either unlocking the travel portals in each area and using currency to jump around, or using mounts to travel faster.
There is also another support option available to pick up loot drops, and those are pets. Loot drops are another important part of Lost Ark, which players will need to keep updating or upgrading. Equipped items need to be repaired over time after combat.
Combat is very satisfying as you can lay waste to a bunch of enemies at once because of amazing skills based on the character class. There are some interesting exploration and safe areas and options to gain reputation points with each important NPCs and do side quests for them for overall levelling. Technically, most of the levelling up needs to be done by doing quests, as that is going to be way faster.
So far, Lost Ark has tons of potential and we look forward to the full release of the game to see what is available next in this upcoming free-to-play MMORPG.
