Mavs Gaming Remains Undefeated after Second Week of Remote Game Play

MavsGG beats Lakers Gaming and Kings Guard Gaming in week two of the 2020 NBA 2K League regular season

 

DALLAS, TX – With week two of remote game play in the books, Mavs Gaming remains undefeated with a 4-0 record. On Wednesday, May 13 the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks beat Lakers Gaming 2-1 with a final score of 47-80 in game one, 72-67 in game two and 67-66 in game three. On Friday, May 15 the team beat Kings Guard Gaming 2-1 with a final score of 71-52 in game one, 48-67 in game two and 59-51 in game three. MavsGG defeated both opponents in a best-of-three series, finishing their second week back with two more victories in the 2020 NBA 2K League regular season.

Each week of the 2020 season the NBA 2K League recognizes its top performing players and in week two Mavs Gaming’s, Dimez was honored as a Player of the Week nominee.

“Being nominated is awesome,” Dimez said. “Just have to keep this momentum going and accomplish the main goal, which is a championship!”

To see the four nominees revealed weekly, stay tuned to the NBA 2K League broadcast on Friday nights on ESPN’s platforms, Twitch and YouTube. Fans account for 50 percent of the vote and NBA 2K League officials each account for 25 percent. Follow the NBA 2K League’s Twitter for your chance to vote.

In the matchup against Lakers Gaming, their defense held MavsGG to 46.3 percent from the field resulting in a MavsGG loss in game one. In game two, MavsGG came back strong with Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) and Sherm (Justin Sherman) putting up 28 and 26 points. Spartxn (Joshua McHatten) and PeteBeBallin’s (Peter Malin) contributions on defense helped the team get to game three. The final game was back and forth until the last minute. With under 40 seconds remaining, Dimez attempted a layup, but it was no good. As SAV (Sten Valge-Saar) leaked out on the fast break, Sherm swiped the ball away from him. Sleetys (Jahlil McClure) kicked it out to Sherm, and with two quick steps, he was able to seal the game for MavsGG, draining a three behind the arc.

Against Kings Guard Gaming, Sherm and Dimez lead the team with 23 points each in game one and helped the team to their first win of the night. In game two, Mavs Gaming fell to Kings Guard Gaming. Sherm and PeteBeBallin scored 16 and 13 points, but it was no match against Kings Guard Gaming’s top shooters, Dat Boy Shotz (Connor Rodrigues) and Bash (Matthew Robles) with 26 and 16 points. In game three Dimez finished with 30 points and PeteBeBallin finished with 16 rebounds, ultimately putting the team on top to wrap up the series.

Head Coach LT Fairley is impressed with all of his players,

“They are happy and levelheaded which is exactly what a coach likes to see.”

Mavs Gaming will continue its regular season competition as part of six weeks of remote gameplay. Next week the team will compete against Hornets Venom GT on Wednesday, May, 20 at 6 p.m. CT. This game will be livestreamed on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
