Mavs Gaming to participate in an NBA 2K match for a virtual Dallas Recruiting Battalion event
DALLAS, TX – JULY 1, 2020 – In an effort to support the U.S. Army’s National Hiring Days and its first ever nationwide hiring campaign, Mavs Gaming will battle in a 3 vs. 3 game of NBA 2K on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 2 pm PT / 4 pm CST. The virtual recruiting event is in place due to the restrictions COVID-19 has put on the U.S. Army’s traditional recruiting process. However, the U.S. Army and Mavs Gaming are thrilled to team up to test the Army’s digital footprint.
“We’re excited to play the game we love while helping the U.S. Army in their recruitment efforts,” Mavs Gaming’s Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) said. “The pandemic has affected everybody greatly and we believe it’s important for us to recognize that and help out when we can.”
The pandemic has challenged the U.S. Army to connect with individuals qualified for military service while following the CDC guidelines, specifically social distancing. By teaming up with Mavs Gaming, Staff Sergeant Jesse Long will have the opportunity to spread awareness to those who are interested in military service while battling alongside Mavs Gaming for the virtual recruiting event.
Before, during, and after 3 vs. 3 gameplay that will be streamed on Twitch/MavsGG, viewers will be informed of the Army’s recruiting process and how to join by Sergeant Long. Participants will also be able to ask the Army recruiter questions in the comment bar throughout the stream.
Last week, Mavs Gaming swept both of its opponents, Warriors Gaming Squad and Celtics Crossover Gaming, 2-0 in regular season gameplay. Tonight, the team competes against Blazers Gaming at 4 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. CST to tipoff the NBA 2k League’s cash matches, where the team can earn $2.5K for winning its match. These games will be livestreamed on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as ESPN2.
