Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will be getting a retail disc-based release and will start shipping on April 30 for $19.99. The retail release will be identical to the digital version of the game.
Disc-based Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition games will be able to connect with digital copies for multiplayer, and will also be compatible with future title updates.
Per the Xbox Official Magazine, the ‘digital version of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold over 5 million copies to date on Xbox Live, generating $100 million in revenue by the end of 2012. The disc-based release of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is probably targeted at Xbox 360 owners who lack home internet, which can be a surprisingly sizable audience.’
