MINOS Review for Steam

Introduction/Information about MINOS

MINOS is a game that plans to release for PC via Steam on April 9th, 2026, with a playable demo out now. In this maze-building rougelite, players will play as the minotaur himself and defend your sanctuary from adventurers through designing pathways and setting traps, taking down every single one. I’ve noticed rougelikes and rougelites have been a more popular genre in games more so recently, but seeing this game felt more different from most rougelites I was used to. When playing through the demo, it became much more about strategy, and it felt more like I was playing a tower defense game with rougelite elements, which was a nice change compared to what I was used to. After playing through Minos, I would say this was a fun roguelite and a much more refreshing idea within the genre.

Gameplay

The gameplay for MINOS consists of strategic maze-building in order to defeat the different adventurers infiltrating the minotaur’s sanctuary. Upon starting the game, players will get thrown into the labyrinth and immediately learn how to defend it. The main things players will be able to do here is change the pathways of the labyrinth and set different kinds of traps. There are a good variety of traps players can gain after each wave of enemies. Basic ones like a spike trap where enemies who walk on them get hurt and taken down. I’ve noticed these are much more common than the others. There are other, more unique traps that will allow for more strategy. One of these includes a lure trap that can lure enemies off the right path, in which players can then set another trap, such as an arrow trap or even a boulder trap, to eliminate them. All these traps will help players deal with the different waves of enemies, but none of them will matter if the path set can’t utilize them. This is where more strategy comes into play. Players need to create the best pathway that will lead to all their traps in the best possible way in order to defeat the waves of enemies in the most efficient way possible. I really loved how much strategy was involved when playing. Having to choose what traps I could use for each upcoming wave and strategizing my path around that was a really fun gameplay loop that I think many people will love as well.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe the game MINOS is a very fun roguelite that felt like a much more fresh take within the genre. I do enjoy the roguelike and roguelite genre, but recently they have all started to feel too similar to me. This game, as I said before, felt more different from what I was used to, which I really liked. I think the strategy involved with this game was much more fun and thought out and I was really glad I got to play it. If you are looking for a new roguelite game that involves much more strategy than action, then I would recommend playing MINOS when it comes out on April 9th, 2026 on Steam. Players can also try the demo out on Steam now.

Minos is slated to release today for PC via Steam.
