Introduction/Information about Mycopunk
Mycopunk is a game that was released July 10th, 2025, for PC via Steam Early Access. This game is a mission-based co-op shooter where players will work together as robots with unique gadgets and abilities to rid the galaxy of an evil and deadly fungus. Co-op shooters can be fun for me. They are not my favorite, but I do enjoy them to a certain extent. When playing through this game, I was not expecting too much. However, I found the gameplay was much more enjoyable and fun than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed the abilities and movement for the different robots as well. After playing through Mycopunk, I would say this game is a very fun co-op shooter with a ton of variety and great movement.

Gameplay
The gameplay for Mycopunk has fun movement and a variety of weapons and abilities. The game will start by giving the player the option to choose their robot. The robot they choose will determine what abilities the player has. Once their robot is chosen, they jump straight into the action (or at least the hub world). From here, players will choose the missions they want to embark on, as well as upgrade their characters and weapons. Players won’t have upgrades or weapons until they complete their first mission, so for now players can immediately embark. Once players land in their first mission, they can take a minute to get accustomed to the controls, which are pretty simple. Players can move, aim, shoot their weapon, slide, and melee for starters. On top of that, they will also have three different abilities to use based on which robot they chose. The robot I chose was the wrangler, which gave me abilities such as throwing fire bombs as well as grappling onto enemies and different terrain. Each robot will have their own abilities, so I recommend trying them all out. When players embark on a mission, they will face plenty of enemies. Some are fodder, but others will be formidable. Using their abilities and weapons at their disposal, teams of players will overcome and defeat every enemy in their way.

Final thoughts
Overall, I believe Mycopunk is a fun co-op shooter with lots of weapon variety, as well as fun movement and gameplay. When I started playing this game, I did not jump in expecting to get hooked. I am very happy that this was not the case. Just playing the first mission had me enjoying the game much more than I was expecting, and I can’t wait to play through more missions with more players. If you are the kind of person who really enjoys co-op shooters and has a group of friends looking to try a new multiplayer experience, then I would highly recommend this game.
