DALLAS, TX – The NBA 2K League announced that it is extending remote gameplay for at least five more weeks and that THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T will be held during Week 7 (June 16th – June 19th). All 23 teams will participate. Matches will begin at 3 p.m. PST on June 16 – 17 and at 4 p.m. on June 18 – 19, and will air live on ESPN2, ESPN’s digital platforms and the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
THE TIPOFF features two days of pool play on June 16 and 17 to determine the eight teams that advance to the playoffs on June 18 and 19. Mavs Gaming will play four games in pool play, competing against up to three other teams in its group twice. At the conclusion of pool play, the seven teams with the best records in each group, as well as one wild card entrant, will advance to the playoffs, with the following tiebreaker scenarios applying if needed:
- Winning percentage within group of pool play rounds
- Head-to-head record within group
- Average points differential within group
- Average points scored within group
- Technical fouls accumulated throughout the NBA 2K League regular season
- Random draw
Below are the teams that make up the seven groups:
- Group 1: 76ers GC, NetsGC, Pistons GT
- Group 2: Celtics Crossover Gaming, Jazz Gaming, Mavs Gaming
- Group 3: Grizz Gaming, Pacers Gaming, Warriors Gaming Squad
- Group 4: Hawks Talon GC, Kings Guard Gaming, Magic Gaming
- Group 5: Bucks Gaming, Heat Check Gaming, Knicks Gaming
- Group 6: Blazer5 Gaming, Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, Lakers Gaming, Raptors Uprising GC
- Group 7: Cavs Legion GC, Hornets Venom GT, T-Wolves Gaming, Wizards District Gaming
Each matchup in the playoff rounds will be played in a best-of-three format. Mavs Gaming will be competing for a total prize pool of $160,000 and the winner of THE TIPOFF will be rewarded with nearly half of the prize pool, the remainder will go to the runner-up, third- and fourth-place finishers.
THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T is the first of three in-season tournaments, the other two being THE TURN and THE TICKET in which teams compete for banners that link together to form THE BANNER CHAIN powered by AT&T.
Currently sitting at 6-2 in NBA 2K League standings, Mavs Gaming will face both Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-6) and Jazz Gaming (4-1) twice tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16 as part of matchups scheduled for Group 2, with hopes of advancing towards playoffs and the championship in the first tournament of the 2020 season.
