In an interview with IGN, Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg, confirmed that Sledgehammer Games is working on a new Call of Duty game designed for next-gen platforms.
Hirshberg stated,
“For the first time, this years Call of Duty game, and future Call of Duty games, are being built on a three year development cycle. There are several advantages to doing this, the first is, of course, quality. This will give our designers more time to envision and to innovate.”
This means that developer Treyarch’s presumed next Call of Duty will release sometime in 2015 while Infinity Ward is expected to follow suit in 2016.
