Playing the New Super Lucky’s Tale by developer Playful Studios for Nintendo Switch brought me back to a time when I would play Spyro for PS2 or even Banjo Kazooie on N64. This 3D platformer is a great game for children and adults alike, but whether you’re a kid playing a video game for the first time or and experienced gamer, don’t let this game intimidate you in any way because it is a fun game and it is good for any and all gamers who love their 3D platformers. It may be a little cliché at times and have a plot line that can bore you a bit, but the game itself is simple and fun to play. This makes it a good game to introduce your family to video games.
New Super Lucky’s Tale has very simple controls and very colorful visuals, which makes it easy to play for everyone yet is easy on the eyes. The storyline can get a bit slow and tedious at times, but once you beat a boss or finish a world you get a sense of satisfaction, which makes it worth it for the most part. When I say it can get a bit boring, I mean that it is pretty boring at points in the plot but who doesn’t love a challenge in video games? this is what made it all worthwhile. Also take nothing away from the idea of the game – it just lacked a little in execution on the story but the game is still fun and easy to play, even with all of that said.
The villains in New Super Lucky’s Tale are a group of cats called Jynx and his army called the Kitty Litter who get their paws on the pages out of the Book of Ages, which locks Lucky out of the world with his family. Lucky’s goal is to save the world and get back to his family.
I would give New Super Lucky’s Tale a 7.5 out of 10 just because the lack of interesting storylines and long intermission screens between each level, but the game itself has very few flaws beyond that. The characters are cute and lovable and the game is fairly easy up until a certain point that anyone can play. Compared to the other platformers in recent times, it does a solid job of getting the feel of the more famous platformers like Super Mario Odyssey, but is a little too boring and simple at times to keep you interested, which is what keeps it out of range of the big name classics like Mario Odyssey, Spyro, and Banjo Kazooie. I also gave it this score because every time you win or lose a level or go to a new world it cuts to an intermediary screen and makes you watch as cringe worthy jokes pass by the screen for too long of a time period, which can get frustrating only because it feels as though you can complete a level in almost the same amount of time as the waiting screen towards the beginning and middle of the game. Overall, New Super Lucky’s Tale is solid and is just lacking a few major components for making it a great game, but still is fun and a good game which does well for the switch.

Nintendo Switch Review
I have been interested in video games ever since I was little boy watching my older sister's open there presents on Christmas Day. They ended up getting a Nintendo 64 and the first game that I can remember learning how to play was Pokemon Stadium on Nintendo 64 in 1999. Although at the young age of 3 I was not able to play video games very well, I would watch my sisters play all of the time. This was very influential on me and is the reason why I love video games still today. Some of my favorite games vary from Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards, most of the main series Pokemon games, and Rocket League to Arena of Valor and Call of Duty. I am a student and am currently finishing my degree of environmental science at Chapman University and when I am not playing video games you can find me playing tennis or volleyball. I love sports and I played 4 years of Division 3 college tennis.
