The New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC) today announced the 13th annual New York Game Awards is returning to the renowned SVA Theatre in Manhattan on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. Tickets are available through Eventbrite, and the ticket tiers are $60 for General Admission, $75 for VIP (preferred seating), and $100 for VIP + After Party. The annual awards show will again be co-hosted by Circle president and founder Harold Goldberg, NYVGCC senior intern Makeda Byfield, and the 2020 Andrew Yoon Legend Award recipient and former President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé. This year’s awesome Legend Award recipient, in addition to musicians and presenters, will be announced soon.
The NYVGCC, a nonprofit promoting awareness of, and education for, video games, writing, and journalism in the New York City area, hosts the annual award program to celebrate the industry and its creators from the past year, as well as the underserved students that NYVGCC mentors, and the NYVGCC scholarship programs. Tickets are on sale today at this link.
“We’re thrilled to be returning to the SVA Theatre to celebrate the 13th annual New York Game Awards and honor the best games of the past year as well as recognize the creators, developers, and media who make our industry stand out,” said Harold Goldberg, executive director and founder, NYVGCC. “The work that goes into our spunky awards show is no small feat since our organization handles every aspect of the show. Thanks to the continued support of our event, we’re able to expand our Playing with Purpose program to reach more unhoused and underserved youth in New York City.”
Ticket proceeds from the New York Game Awards will help fund the Playing with Purpose writing programs for 2024, which support students and interns at Bronxworks Shelter, Mott Hall 3 Middle School, TAPCo, Andries Huddle Middle School, and elsewhere. Playing with Purpose provides mentorship and internship opportunities that teach students fundamental writing skills and create a pathway to careers in the games industry.
“I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the 2024 New York Game Awards,” said Reggie Fils-Aimé, board member, NYVGCC. “From hosting the awards show to mentoring the amazing youth, being a part of NYVGCC has been such a fulfilling experience. Seeing our New York City youth grow and develop skills in the games industry with the help of NYVGCC is inspiring, and we need the continued support of industry leaders and members to keep this mission alive for those who need it most.”
Tickets for the 2024 New York Game Awards cost $50 for General Admission and $75 for Orchestra (closest to the stage) and are available for purchase through Eventbrite. NYVGCC offers an early bird discount of 10% off if purchased before Thursday, Oct. 5.
