PC players finally have a chance to play the amazing Nioh 2 after almost a year of wait. Developed by Team Ninja and Published by Koei Tecmo, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is going to be releasing today, February 5, 2021 for PC via Steam.
I have played Nioh and wasn’t sure what to expect as I am not much of Soul-like games player. But after getting into it, the game feels a bit easier and fun as well. Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is definitely a better game for a lot of new comers. Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition has a great story and gameplay; it pushes the game’s graphics further as players get to play the Complete Edition with an amazing framerate. There are not lot of graphics options but the game still looks amazing with a higher framerate. We played Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition on 60 fps and it feels so fluid.
Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition starts off with tutorial, which allows you to choose and play out different weapons. I would say it has so many different weapons that allow you to play out the game differently. It feels a little bit overwhelming, so I finally planned to play the game with Odachi/Longsword and Dual Swords. Each weapon is linked to one of the stats that provides damage boost for leveling a specific stat. For example, if you level up Strength stat, you get a boost in Odachi damage.
On top of all of the different types of weapons, the gameplay has a specific twist to it, i.e., unlike other Soul-like games, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition has some additional ways such as our protagonist gets to create our own character the way we want, and there is a Yokai form, which in itself, is a different playstyle that lets you choose a guardian spirit that can be changed at any shrine.
Demonic enemies are fun to encounter because they have some amazing styles that we have to play with. Especially when we have Burst Counter in Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition that allows you to avoid the Yokai’s special attack. They drop souls some time that lets you equip them on your guardian spirit and use them as special abilities. Players can acquire anima that lets you use the yokai skills and burst counters; it has a 3rd bar just below health and stamina. Also stamina can be instantly recovered if timed Ki-pulse properly. This gives Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition a different feel as you can attack pretty frequently without waiting for the stamina bar refill time length. Also there is 4th bar that is your Guardian Spirit transformation bar – the process is called Yokai Shift. These mechanics feel like there are a lot of things when player starts the game but over time after a couple of missions usually starts getting the hang of it.
Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition also provides three DLCs that add location and missions. You then get access to a blacksmith that allows upgrading and crafting some amazing armors and weapons. Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition has been a great addition to the list of console games porting over to PC and I am going to have some fun trying to play the game with different weapons. Overall, other than a few graphic stutters which are not much noticeable while enjoying the story itself, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition is a perfect example of a sequel which has great changes from the previous game. We rate Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition a complete package and give it 9 stars.
