NORSE: Oath of Blood Review for Steam

Greetings Gamers! Greg here from Gaming Cypher with a hot take on Norse: Oath of Blood, a tactics game that uses turn-based combat along with building a village, community, and army.
Norse: Oath of Blood is a story-driven saga centered around one family trying to rebuild a home and fight for justice. Developed by Arctic Hazard and published by Tripwire Presents.
In Norse: Oath of Blood, a family seeks safety and a place to start over after exile. Gunnar Grippson, the main character, is forced to flee after his father is murdered by the man sworn to protect him. So Gunnar, his mother, and his twin sister escape. These remaining family members set out for a new land. Along the way, they recruit old friends and train new warriors and tradespeople to help in the efforts. Players will not stand alone. The only path to victory is with a strong settlement, which makes for a strong warband.
Building up the settlement requires many hands lent to the cause. An assortment of builders, farmers, traders, and craftsmen foster an unstoppable settlement. A player’s Viking village grows from small camps into a bustling stronghold as long as players assign villagers to keep busy doing assigned roles, manage resources, and keep upgrading buildings and units. Resources can also be gained from hunting and scavenging in the wilds or even trading.

The choices players make matter in Norse: Oath of Blood; the Gods will be watching. So weigh your choices because they will determine if you are forgotten in history or welcomed into Valhalla. The story was written by best-selling author Giles Kristian, who is best known for his acclaimed RAVEN Viking Trilogy.
Who will line the halls of Valhalla with you? Well, if you and your warband make it. The fighters by your side. Train different troop types like Tanks, Warriors, Berserkers, and archers; however, in Norse: Oath of Blood, they have much cooler troop type names. Arm and armor these troops as you head into turn-based strategic combat.

Overall, the storytelling, performances, and cinematic nature of Norse: Oath of Blood are extremely impressive for a game that has a base price of $34.99 USD, as this game is punching and hacking above its weight class. If you are looking for a rich Norse RPG with base building and a well-crafted story, this might be a game for you.
Score: 8/10.
