The Kickstarter campaign for Dragonbane: Trudvang, a stand-alone tabletop role-playing game based on the numerous award-winning Dragonbane role-playing game, will begin on February 17, as announced by Free League Publishing.
Players enter a misty world of ancient gods, terrifying monsters, and unsung heroes in Dragonbane: Trudvang. The game, which has its roots in Nordic mythology, offers a complex environment that is both timeless and fiercely unique by fusing epic cruelty with eerie beauty.
In order to receive notifications and avoid missing out on the early backer bonus—a deluxe art print with gorgeous new cover art by renowned fantasy artist Paul Bonner—prospective backers can register now.

A Complete Stand-Alone RPG Compatible with Dragonbane
Dragonbane: Trudvang, created by Free League under license from CMON, is completely compatible with the Dragonbane core game and comes with all the rules needed for groups to easily incorporate material between systems.
Four beautifully designed hardback volumes, available in ordinary editions or special Collector’s editions in both Swedish and English, are offered via the Kickstarter campaign:
- Core Rules: Complete Dragonbane-based rules designed specifically for Trudvang, including new vocations, kins, talents, heroic powers, and magic used by dimwalkers and vitner weavers
- World Book: An in-depth, vividly drawn exploration of the history, civilizations, and geographical areas of Trudvang, from the Stormlands and Westmark to Soj and the Great Ice Plains
- Jorgi’s Bestiary: Braskelwurms, Draugr, Hrimtursir, and Yggdras are among the species from the traditional Trudvang monster manual that have been entirely converted for Dragonbane.
- The Black Sun: A legendary four-part epic campaign, revised and published in English for the first time
Trudvang was first developed in the early 2000s by Theodore Bergqvist and Magnus Malmberg of Riotminds as a campaign setting for the Swedish version of Dragonbane (Drakar och Demoner). It subsequently developed into the stand-alone role-playing game Trudvang Chronicles and the board game Trudvang Legends by CMON.
Dragonbane: Trudvang’s artwork is based on more than 20 years of famous Trudvang illustrations, including pieces by Álvaro Tapia and Paul Bonner. Additionally, renowned illustrator Francesca Baerald produced a brand-new map of Trudvang, and Bonner designed the eye-catching new cover art for the Dragonbane: Trudvang World Book.
Theodore Bergqvist, the co-creator of Trudvang. stated, “When we heard that Free League had licensed Trudvang from CMON, and that Magnus Seter would be leading the work on this new edition, we were naturally delighted. Most of all because the world gets to live on — but also because Trudvang has, in many ways, found its way home again.”
