The first day of the season is a wrap! It is clear that we are in for a treat: the teams are evenly matched and will be very competitive in the foreseeable future. There were so many good matches last Sunday, it is hard to pick which ones to feature!
But if we have to pick, the top highlight was a match between the teams Exalted Blaze and Dayless in the North American League, which unleashed some of the most intense action thus far. There were several high-profile players present and at the top of their game: TommyJet is known throughout the Overwatch community for their skills in playing as the character Ana, Slayerxv8 as one of the best Widow players, and SupremeAaronz as one of the best Soldiers and most seasoned veterans. In terms of the match, Team Dayless won the first map at King’s Row, mostly because one player called Insight_Sr was very confident and aggressive as Reinhardt and out-matched the other team’s Reinhardt. This gave their teammate SupremeAaronz opportunities to make critical plays and secure a victory. During the second map at Lijang Tower, team Exalted Blaze exhibited impressive coordination and contested the objective enough to stay in the game, despite being heavily outnumbered. King_Freedom as Tracer was one of the main reasons they were able to hold out for so long, as they inflicted tons of damage on the enemy support players while staying alive for a very long time. In the final map at Dorado, SupremeAaronz showcased impressive flexibility while Slayerxv8 as Widow also asserted their dominance. As a result, Team Dayless was able to come out on top.
The season has kicked off to a splendid start, but there is much more to look forward to. Stay tuned for next week’s lineup: the match E.D.G.E. and Space eSports looks especially exciting, since E.D.G.E. has already won the pre-season tournament and Space eSports came in second last year during the playoffs. We cannot wait to see how it all unfolds!
