I’d like to thank the great folks of Interpid Studios at PAX West 2017 for hosting me and allowing me to play Ashes of Creation.
Ashes of Creation is a non-faction based MMORPG in pre-alpha stage from developer Intrepid Studios who aims to make MMO’s great again. Players can engage in epic sieges of castles and build homes in an ever evolving open-world. Cities will rise and fall depending on how players play. There are no PvE only servers available, so Ashes is really trying to find the perfect balance of PvP and PvE. Killing other players will result in gaining a corruption status that comes with negative XP that lowers overall efficacy until the corruption goes away. The corruption will only deactivate upon death, and dying with a corruption status will cause the player to drop valuable gear. Gear and resources must be transported from different areas of the map in order to make use of them. There is no fast travel system so players will need to either haul it all on foot or make use of the caravans. Caravans can be attacked and looted by other players, but if you want to be the guy going corrupt you had better watch out because other players can take on the role of bounty hunter and kill you with no penalties.
Players can dive into alpha testing later this year with a full release being projected late 2018. For more information you can head on over to the official website.

I was born and raised in a town so small there were more cows than people. I joined the USAF as soon as I could, and I currently reside in San Antonio. I am a singer/songwriter on the side, but I've been a gamer since birth. I grew up with PlayStation and Nintendo, though, I don't discriminate between consoles and PC. I have a PC with a 3080, Steam Deck, and a PS5.
