WARNING – SPOILER ALERT
This is Gaming Cypher’s PC review of The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries Episode 2 ‘Give No Shelter’ by leading publisher of digital entertainment TellTale Games and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment.
I must say – TellTale Games DELIVERS again! Right away, I was swept into action, action, action. Episode 2, ‘Give No Shelter’ takes off right where the first episode ‘In Too Deep’ ended, with Michonne, Sam and Pete escaping the colony of Monroe. This time around, I felt that there was even more player interaction, heart palpitating scenes and the amazing storyline of one woman’s struggle to deal with a surreal world of The Walking Dead and her personal hell of flashbacks. How can Michonne maintain her sanity? You, the player will help her with your choices. Oh yes, there many choices in Episode 2 that will test your good versus bad side, right versus wrong.
Just when the first scene ends, the beginning credits roll in and then you are immediately faced with hoards of blood-thirsty zombies to your front and the vengeful Monroe crew trying to kill you in your rear. You will have to constantly be on the alert for player interaction and conversation choices. Be mindful, as your choices will directly affect the outcome of the game. I will say that I am so grateful that I was able to respawn several times and progress through the episode.
The controls were very smooth – fighting/slashing/hitting keys used the most are Q and E followed by the W A S D used as arrow keys pointing to all four directions. This time around there was even a hold (left mouse button) and drag/point feature several times throughout the game, whether it was to help drag Sam to safety, or remove a bullet from her shoulder. Overall, I was thrilled with the constant action and the user-friendliness of the gameplay.
I really appreciated the storyline in Episode 2 as I got to learn a great deal more about what happened to Michonne’s two daughters and delved even deeper into her personal story. Several times throughout the game, Michonne got transported (mentally) into flashbacks of that fateful day, when her two daughters disappeared. Exploration was peppered generously throughout that particular scene. Knowing a bit more about Michonne made me understand more about her personal battle between keeping her sanity and choosing right from wrong in a horrid world filled with zombies and killers.
Overall, I highly recommend a BUY for The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries Episode 2 ‘Give No Shelter.’ The game is so well done, leaves you breathless with zombie fighting anticipation and story line decision making. I can’t wait until episode 3!
