Project Genesis, currently in pre-Alpha, is an upcoming space battle game from 8 Circuit Studios. It’s a space ship game and it’s also a first-person shooter. The game is still in development as of the writing of this, but from what I’ve played, it’s really really fun.
Even though Project Genesis is still in development, and even though I have only played a small portion of the game, I have no doubt that it will flourish into an amazing full game. The team working on Project Genesis is amazing, they’re passionate and experienced. For instance, one of the designers of the game worked on Halo 5, which I think is really cool.
Here are the basics of it: First you pick your ship, and the ships range from light speeders to massive armored space tanks. Once you got your ship you can customize it with different types of weapons and colors and head into the game. You’re launched into a team battle space fight. You and your teammates have a massive space cruiser to defend, and on the other end of the battlefield theirs a massive cruiser the enemy team is defending. The dogfighting is crazy good, like war thunder except without a million dollars-worth of micro transactions, or like the dogfighting from Dice’s Battlefront, but unlike Battlefront, Project Genesis isn’t mediocre. In fact, Project Genesis is good, that’s the general theme of this review. So, you fly around shooting up other players and attacking the enemy’s Cruiser, and to attack the enemy cruiser you basically just shoot at it until it’s shields are down. But once you get the shields down, that’s when it gets even cooler. You don’t just lay on the trigger until the cruiser blows up, you actually get to go inside the ship. Once you enter a cruiser the game changes from space ship fighter to first person shooter. Once you’re in the ship you must navigate your way around it, finding and destroying all the ships vital systems. Don’t think it’ll be easy though, not only will it be tricky enough to navigate, you’ll have to worry about enemy players on the ship defending it, ready to gun you down in an instant. The first team that destroys their enemy’s cruiser wins, simple as that.
That’s what I got to play, and there will definitely be more to come, but I just want to focus on what I’ve seen so far. The graphics are beautiful and everything is well designed. The controls are easy to pick up and there’s controller support if you’d prefer to use one instead of a keyboard. The ship customizations aren’t just trivial little things like a sticker or small decal, but instead your choice of guns drastically alters how you get to play the game. From Gatling guns to long range snipers to mine launchers, there’s no shortage of weaponry. With a handful of distinct ships, further altered by choice of weapons, each ship is truly unique and a brand new play experience.

You can wishlist Project Genesis on Steam right now.
My first gaming experience happened around 4 years old. I got demolished in Tekken 2 by my uncle. It's been a wild ride ever since, I've been destroyed in Mortal Kombat, eviscerated in Marvel v Capcom, and recently I've been decimated in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Currently studying English at MSU.
