Sony has announced during its E3 2013 presentation yesterday that the PS4 will require a PlayStation Plus membership in order to play multiplayer games.
The membership will enable players to continue to enjoy the benefits across PS4, PS3, and PS Vita systems.
The PlayStation Plus membership will enable players to:
- Use online multiplayer
- Broadcast and spectate games
- Cross-game voice chat, and
- “Seamlessly join a friend’s online game”
The Instant Game Collection will extend to PS4 along with online gameplay. One digital title is going to be rotated each month – this includes three of the new digital games that were introduced during E3 press conference yesterday: Don’t Starve, Outlast, and Secret Ponchos.
A one-year membership can be purchased through the PlayStation Store for $49.99. In addition, a three-month membership costs $17.99, and a new a one-month membership costs $9.99.
