Berlin – Albion Online, the fantasy sandbox MMORPG developed by Sandbox Interactive, officially announced its next major content update, Queen. The Queen update is the eighth, and by far the largest, content update since the game’s launch in July 2017.
This update brings numerous new features and improvements to the world of Albion. Hideouts, the update’s foremost new feature, are underground bases that can be placed throughout the black zones, allowing guilds to live and thrive in the Outlands in true sandbox fashion.
The Outlands, the game’s high-level PvP zones, have been completely reworked with higher-tier zones at the center of the continent and lower-tier zones at the edge, allowing guilds of all different strengths and sizes to compete and claim their own piece of Albion.
Territories are now claimed via open-world battles, allowing all members of a guild to contribute meaningfully to territory ownership, alongside zerg debuffs and smart cluster queues that encourage a “quality over quantity” approach to army building. And the new Crystal League allows players of all levels to participate in 5v5 battles, with elite guild players able to score powerful territory buffs with each victory.
The Queen update also introduces Elite Randomized Dungeons. These high-level dungeons are intended for large groups, and allow players to face off against the most powerful PvE enemies in the game: the new Avalonian faction. Players who successfully complete elite dungeons will be rewarded with a week-long PvE buff, and can obtain valuable loot including shards that can be crafted into new Artifact Armors.
The update is rounded out with numerous quality-of-life improvements, including:
