Intro: A strategic sense of adventure awaits you in the world of Rottera. Developed by Dig-It Games, Rottera main gaming function revolves around your ability to guide and strategically use your sense of direction, to transition your character to one level (map) to another.
Gameplay: One of the main takeaways I got from playing was the notion of strategic concepts backed by very simple mechanics. The gameplay has no in depth features besides the movement of your character; however with the main nature of the game being backed by thinking instead of action, I don’t necessarily look at this component as a flaw. The movements are enforced simply by tapping; I had no problem laying my phone down and playing with only 1 finger. It’s also important to know, Roterra runs very smoothly and transitions pretty quickly between stages. Each level progressively gets more and more difficult, which will result in you being stumped on a map more than once.
Verdict: There isn’t much substance to the game but there is much thought that has gone into it. There is a lack of aesthetics to Roterra, which doesn’t make it look appealing. However, even with these lack of features I think some majority still find this game satisfying in uncommon areas.
Pros: Quickplay, Strategy, Simple Mechanics, Not easy, Palmable Play
Cons: No free camera angle, boxy/stiff animations, No outside help, Lack of depth
