Say No! More, a game developed by Studio Fizbin and published by Thunderful Publishing, is all about saying No! The game is a part of a comedy section of gaming that has started to gain traction in the last couple of years. Going in I did not know what to expect from this title and I was pleasantly surprised. The combination of humor that plays on the work culture and its absurd nature created a valued experience.
Say No! More is simple from the start. The player receives a job, possibly the most frustrating variation being a non-paid internship, with lunchbox in stow from a friend you head to the job. it is a horrible experience from the start. Set in a work culture that is around being a “yes man” and the term “no” is a foreign concept to everyone in the company. The first thing that happens is the boss takes advantage of this “yes” culture and bullies the main character from the start. However, when the lunchbox is taken from the character this is when they decide that enough is enough. The intern then finds the power of “no” and that is when the game truly starts.
Now this game does not have too many mechanics to it when it comes to gameplay. This is a casual experience through and through. Knowing that coming into this experience is important to know. A game described as an NPG, a No!-Playing Game, that is true to that as not much gameplay is introduced. It is based around you saying “no” but in different forms as the intern finds that this works for him. The options you can pick from are heated, wacky, lazy, and cold. This even goes further with the ability to attack the no towards the co-workers around you to bring the “no” greater power. Now, this is through an on-rails experience that you can not truly fail as I tried the different “no” variations and taunts and never once failed at a specific no. Instead, this is focused on creating comedic timing and is story–based where you go on a rampage. This rampage leads to an epic battle with your boss as the last part.
Now the gameplay may not seem like much, but it was effective. I enjoyed the experience I had with Say No! More as it made me laugh more than I truly expected to. In a time where many are filled with stress, this game gave me some relief from that with its absurd humor. Most importantly, the game had a message that I was not expecting at all. That sometimes saying “no” is not a bad thing in a world where there are so many cultures of that “yes” at all times. Instead, with this positive message about empowering yourself using no that I never truly thought about. A game that can make you take a step back and look at that needs to be appreciative.
Although Say No! More is not without its flaws. The biggest being that there was not much to the game as at times it felt more like a playable movie than a game experience. Which will detract people that are hoping for some different innovative gaming mechanistic this is not your game. Also is the fact that Say No! More is only about an hour–long for many that amount of gameplay might not be worth the price tag of $14.99.
Despite the flaws of Say No! More, I enjoyed this experience in a time where we need some humor more than ever. Filled with absurd humor that will lead to chuckles throughout. Even with a message that I was not expecting at all. I can truly say that I feel this game is worth checking out.
Score: 7/10

Nintendo Switch Review
Gaming has always been an outlet for me to interact with different people and explore all kinds of possibilities. I play a wide variety of games always willing to try different mechanics and storylines that developers are trying to create for their games. I grew up delving into MW2 and World of Warcraft, I miss the Wrath of The Lich King days, and as I have gotten older I have found a love for RPGs and strategy games, my favorites being The Witcher 3 and Total War. Always looking forward to the next great game.
