Shadowgun War Games by MADFINGER Games is going to be a nice addition to the competitive Mobile Game Library. Following in the spirit of games like Overwatch and Team Fortress, you’ll definitely be familiar with the feel, aesthetics, and control of this game the moment you get your hands on it.
Shadowgun War Games is a Hero Shooter that allows you to pick one of many characters in their roster to storm the battlefield with and bring your team to victory. All the classic classes are here: A support character with a destructive rocket launcher, a hulking tank to soak up enemy bullets, a speedy infiltrator to harass the enemy, a deadly sharpshooter you don’t want to be caught out in the open with, and my personal favorite, the all-around commando who lays the smackdown on anyone in the way of his objective! The game operates as most Hero Shooters do. You select your mercenary, join up with other players from around the world, and participate in a 5 on 5 match up in varying game modes from Capture the Flag to the classic Team Deathmatch. MADFINGER Games made sure to check all the boxes when it came to this game and it shows. If you’ve played Hero Shooters in the past, you will find yourself right at home with this mobile title.
At its core, Shadowgun War Games has simple and easy to pick up mechanics that will have you fully engaged after just a few rounds of play. Like most trending Mobile Shooters, you use the left of your touch screen to move and the right side to aim & shoot. You can easily adjust the controls within the game’s settings menu to autofire when aimed at an enemy or enable a more advanced setup that allows you to manually aim & fire. Each hero in Shadowgun War Games has a primary weapon, a secondary weapon, and several specials that can be adapted to any situation the player finds themselves in. My favorite character, the commando, has a hard-hitting assault rifle, a quick-reloading SMG, and a grenade to help quell the enemy when they get the bright idea to crowd together. Even better is his stimpack ability, which when active, allows him to regain Hit Points before, during, or after completely burying the opposition.
Aesthetics & Sound
For a game that’s still in early development, MADFINGER Games has done a great job with their character designs. Each hero has their own distinct look and feel that lends itself to that character’s role on the battlefield. Even without the class descriptions, you can easily decipher what your role in the squad is based on your character’s appearance. From high ground vantage points, to intersecting underground pathways, the level design is simple and easy to navigate after a few quick rounds of traversing the twists and turns MADFINGER Games has constructed. The game has a smooth soundtrack that fades into the background in order to immerse you into the hectic gameplay. The guns also have good audio and a distinct sound to each, reminding you just how much of a punch they pack.
Summary
Shadowgun War Games is a fun and familiar title that’s easy for anyone to pick up. If you’ve played a Hero Shooter before, you will find yourself right at home with this gunslinging title. The mechanics are simple, intuitive, and can easily be adapter in order to give you a competitive edge against the competition! Shadowgun War Games is shaping up to be a visually stimulating shooter with amazing graphics. I can’t wait to see what MADFINGER Games has up their sleeve in the future for this title!
