Players are invited to explore a wide, whimsical world of magic and adventure with the “Season of Moomin,” a brand-new partnership featuring the beloved Moomins, starting today until December 29th in thatgamecompany’s endearing online adventure game, Sky: Children of the Light. Tove Jansson, a writer and illustrator from Finland, has centered a number of novels, short tales, picture books, and comic strips around the recognizable Moomins. The Moomins, a charming family that resembles a hippopotamus, are the main characters; they reside in Moominvalley.

As the two worlds come together to deliver intensely moving tales of friendship, healing, and resiliency, the collaboration brings together the shared principles of creation and exploration between Sky and Moomin. The partnership skillfully combines Moomin’s reassuring and timeless tales with Sky’s warm and lovely world of quests and storytelling.
Players will investigate themes of trauma, recovery, and self-acceptance in “Season of Moomin” as they work through the story of “The Invisible Child.” The story follows Ninny, a Moomin character, as she confronts her anxieties, overcomes setbacks, and develops her self-assurance and knowledge. New chapters in Ninny’s journey are revealed every week, encouraging players to face their previous demons and highlighting the strength of resiliency and self-discovery.
This Season debuted a brand-new aesthetic for Sky that has never been seen before. Assuming the shape of a butterfly, players assist Ninny on her trip from a world of black and white to one filled with color. As the narrative progresses, the poignant tale of recovery, development, and rebirth strikes a deep chord, giving Ninny and the tranquil realm of Moominvalley new life.
In addition to twice as many Fetch Quests as in a regular season, Sky’s “Season of Moomin,” which was arranged by U.S. licensing company King Features on behalf of brand owner Moomin Characters, features must-have Moomin merchandise including a plush toy, ears and tail, and Ninny attire.
You can find out more about the partnership HERE, along with information about the “Season of Moomin” on Sky’s official blog and in the endearing new teaser (seen above). Play Sky: Children of the Light on a PC via Steam, a Nintendo Switch, a PlayStation 4 or 5, or a mobile device.
