This year, Grand Turismo fans in Australia will be able to enter Sony’s GT Academy program, in which the winning talented player will get the opportunity to become a professional racing driver.
After a couple of successful runs in North America and Europe, SCE Australia teamed up with Nissan to bring the program to Australia.
The GT Academy begins with a virtual competition in which players are required to top local leaderboards via online time trials or live events at local racing meets. The 28 top-ranked competitors will then compete in a live national final, and the champions will be sent to the international finals in the UK.
The Australian winner will be competing against 28 drivers to win the coveted place in Nissan’s Driver Development Program ahead of participation in the Dubai 24 Hours. Incidentally, three former GT Academy champions have gone on to successful careers in racing.
