Introduction/Information about Squirrel with a Gun

The game Squirrel with a Gun is a game that was officially released on August 29, 2024 on Steam. This game is described as a sandbox shooter and puzzle platformer where players play as a squirrel using a gun to collect golden nuts. Using different kinds of guns, this squirrel can shoot enemies (or random citizens), rob people of their nuts, reach too high to reach places, and more. When I saw this game, my initial reaction was mostly confusion. I genuinely didn’t know what to expect when I opened the game and started playing. After a while, however, I found myself having too much fun then what I feel I should have been having. After playing Squirrel with a Gun, I would say this game is ridiculously fun.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Squirrel with a Gun is simple. The main goal for players is to get golden nuts. Getting golden nuts will give them access to more things around the map. When players start the game, they will need to collect their first golden nut. In order to get this nut, players will need to activate all the buttons in the room. This is where the game will teach players the main controls. They will be able to move, jump, and be able to pick up different objects and throw them. Once players activate all the buttons and get the first golden nut, an enemy will try to attack them. This is where players will get access to one of the key parts of the game. A gun. When players pick up the gun, they can do the following. Aim at their target and shoot. They can also use the gun to do multiple jumps in the air. Depending on which gun players have will also change how these functions work. After getting a gun and learning these controls, players will then have to fight through enemies and escape back outside. Once outside, players will see there are more golden nuts to get. By this point, players can go crazy and do whatever they want. The world is theirs to mess around in. Players can rob people by pointing a gun at them, steal people’s food, give a lonely guy his birthday cake, drive a mini car, blow themselves up, blow a person up, snap some necks, etc. Players can and will use everything at their disposal to get all the golden nuts scattered across the game.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe the game Squirrel with a Gun is extremely fun. It’s too much fun for what it is. This game started out as looking like a very confusing concept to a blast. Trying to collect all the golden nuts I could find was really fun, as well as just messing around with everybody outside. If you are the kind of player that enjoys sandbox games, causing mayhem, and overall a fun experience, then I would highly recommend this game.

Squirrel with a Gun is available for PC via Steam. PlayStation and Xbox players will also be able to play this game when it releases for them on October 15, 2024.
