Ebenezer and The Invisible World, a hand-drawn Metroidvania fantasy reimagination of Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A Christmas Carol, from Orbit Studio and Play on Worlds, rings silver bells with a demo at this year’s June Steam NextFest ahead of a full release on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One later this year.
After learning the error of his ways, miser-turned-hero Ebenezer Scrooge’s eyes are opened to the invisible world, where countless ghosts chained to the mortal world seek his help. Navigate the darkest corners of Victorian-era London to put an end to the sinister deeds of the greedy Malthus family, seeking to usurp power and put an end to the working class. Befriend lost spirits, including a mountaineer, prisoner, astronomer, and more, each with their own stories to tell and quests to follow. Gain their trust, summon them, and utilize their spectral superpowers to glide through the air, smash through walls, and defy space and time, through a meticulously hand-drawn world adapted into a non-linear Metroidvania map full of secrets.
