So, there are a lot of different sports game, and everyone must have heard about the Tony Hawks skateboard games. But Steep took me to a totally different world of winter sports, which I was not expecting. I didn’t play the game on its initial release, but I did later on try the Road to Olympics along with the actual game. Mix of all different sports in a single game. Steep is developed and published by Ubisoft, which came out one year ago in December 2016. And, the Road to Olympics is a DLC content for the upcoming Winter Game Olympics in South Korea.
I tried a few different sports, but the snowboard was the best. The game contains a lot of different sports including skiing and even wingsuit gliding as well. The Road to Olympics has introduced some really interesting and beautiful mountains of Japan and Korea, South Korea which is going to host the winter Olympics in upcoming year.
The controls are really good once you get a hang of the game itself. As I jumped into the game during the DLC, I didn’t find myself left off for anything. You can do skills and jumps based on a few taps of buttons. I did like the open world concept, you can move to any location you like and start exploring the things around and doing your regular sports activities. There are tons of options to choose from including the free ride to special events. Road to Olympics introduced the Olympic games into the mix of freestyle sports. I did enjoyed the scenery and would always try to explore as I go down the mountain either doing skiing or skateboarding.
Steep has really good mechanics of physics and it really great to see all the values that comes up if you do a stunt wrong and crashes. It gives you a feel of the player, as you crash the sound effect really hit me as I was getting hurt myself.
The graphics of the this game are amazing and have such great feel of snow, the location to do stunts at are so well designed. You feel like wanting to go and explore those locations in real life. Ubisoft did a really good job creating the whole graphics and level design part of it. There were certain place I got stuck at like ponds and few crashes into the tree where I was not really able to come out of, but I did got a hang of it and was able to switch between the items to work with.
One of the best things I liked about the new DLC was the interviews of actual players, and it was good insight into the world of winter games. It encouraged me to actually watch the Olympics when it comes out, and I think at least I will keep updated on the winter games Olympics upcoming year.
I really liked the game, I haven’t play sports games in a while but it really took me back to the old times when I was playing Tony Hawk’s and doing all the greatest tricks out there. I would like to give this game a solid 8.5 Stars.
