Intro: Sword & Fairy 6 by eastasiasoft is an adventurous journey through the Chinese regiment. This is the 8th instillation of the long running in the Legend of Sword and Fairy series; It embarks on a heroic journey filled with warriors, culture, and enriched story.
First Glance: At first glance, I thought this game wasn’t fully developed. There was aspect that the game completely lacked such as: a voice, clear objectives, enemies, and just depth in general. The most frustrating element was the slow frame rate. This game was constantly lagging and never ran smoothly. I’ve never seen a non-online game run at such a terrible rate. The graphics also seemed botched and pixilated; there was never high definition of moment of clarity while I was playing. I think someone could easily mistake this for a PS2 game.
Gameplay: The fighting mechanics and structure are subpar. I would think for a game that’s lacking in the visual aspects, the developers would to try to make up for it with the gameplay; but no. The fighting controls are simple and choppy due to the slow frame rate. There are few enemies to encounter and limited fighting animations to use. The entire game is presented through subtitles without a clear narrator. There was a moment I was unclear which character I was controlling and what was even going on. It seems this game lacks intention.
Verdict: It would be hard to imagine anyone who would be satisfied with purchasing this game. I think the lack of visuals, voice, and gameplay mechanics should make Sword & Fairy 6 a game most should stay away from. There were little satisfactions for me while playing because of these clear lacking elements. It’s hard to identify this game’s strength because of the other evident weak areas.
