Back in 2010, these developers released their first franchise, Talking Tom and Friends, but they could have never imagined the overnight sensation it became across the globe.
Return to the world of Talking Tom, this time to chase down a thieving raccoon with endless endurance to reclaim all your stolen candy. At first glance, TALKING TOM’S CANDY RUN seems like any other side-scrolling running game; collect items and do your best to not die, however; there is so much more to be found beneath the surface of this game. What kept my interest long enough to discover the sweet treats is the cuddly character design and its impossibly colorful environment.
Unlocking new characters during your journey feels fluid and well-paced, they can be accessed through random chests that you encounter along your confectionary dash. Tom is one of the clumsiest felines around and often falls victim to tripping over traffic cones or smashing into rogue cranes, so these cuddly friends prove to be very useful backups for when Tom plows face-first into the concrete. Certain power up abilities acquired along this chase for stolen loot are a fun twist; supersized invincibility and magnets to suck up all the candy for you while you focus on the running are favorites.
Not only are these creatures impossibly adorable, but the bubbly music complements the whimsicality of this game. With the combination of the high-tempo, energetic music, and the “love at first sight” character design, this game hooks you from the moment you begin.
Talking Tom came to life in Los Angeles and took over Dylan’s Candy Bar. Tom may run to take back his candy from a candy-robbing raccoon, but this past Friday he took it a step further and gave away over three hundred pounds of his sugary loot. Over 2,000 fans showed up to show their support for this mobile sensation.
Overall, this game is great for all ages. Younger generations will find the appeal of animal caricatures in a colorful and whimsical environment, while older players will relish in the sense of accomplishment that comes with returning Tom’s candy to its rightful owner.
