The Banner Saga 3 First Impressions on Steam

The Banner Saga 3 First Impressions on Steam

I had the privilege of playing the first three levels of The Banner Saga 3 by Stoic Studio and published by Versus Evil. And for the players who have been with us since the beginning of this saga, you would better know these as chapters 16,17, and 18. We find ourselves in two locations. The first, is in an over crowded city with people looking for refuge.

The second place we find ourselves is in the heart of darkness, hoping that we can find a way to turn the tide in our favor, as we go up against an ever growing darkness that threatens to engulf our world.

For those heroes who are taking on the darkness head on, it isn’t an easy journey. There are new foes to fight, while you do everything in your power to insure that you are not infected by the darkness as well. Although these creatures can be killed, they can still injure you from beyond the grave. In order to have any hope of making it out of this darkness alive, it’s going to take quick thinking, and teamwork in order to have any chance of victory.

Even for those that are behind the wall, this doesn’t guarantee safety.

There are dangers even within the wall – caravans that are fighting for food and lodging. Many have ongoing feuds with other caravans that have been going on for lifetimes, and not even the threat of death will make them set aside their differences. There are those who fear others that are not their own species. And if that wasn’t enough to deal with, you have enemies outside the wall, that are always trying to get in. The enemy at the gate is vast in size, so large that you can no longer see the ground.

With that being said, my first impression of the game is that this is a battle two games in the making. And it doesn’t disappoint! All I can say, is that I anxiously await the release of the third and final installment. So if you haven’t played the first two parts get started now, because The Banner Saga awaits you!

The Banner Saga is available on Nintendo Switch as well as multiple formats including Steam for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as well the App Store for iPad and iPhone, on Google Play and Amazon for Android devices and on Windows based tablets.

Banner Saga 3, the third and final installment of the emotionally charged franchise will launch on July 26th, 2018 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Mobile platforms are expected to launch later on in the year.
