The Falconeer was originally released back in November 2020 as a launch title for Xbox Series X/S, developed by Tomas Sala and Wired Productions. The Falconeer: Warrior Edition is a complete package and the best way to enjoy the experience with PS5 controller support.
The Falconeer: Warrior Edition is a narrative based exploration/air combat game. It is a mix of a few different genres. In the game, the player takes to the sky in a war torn world flying on the back of these huge birds. The gameplay is very straightforward where you fly on the back of a bird and explore the maps. There is stamina and health bars that fill up automatically over time, and gliding through the world feels amazing. There are undiscovered regions in the map that players can unlock for additional quests. Also, there are thunder and windy areas that allow you to regain energy and fly faster. There are also available locations that players can land and interact with the settlements.
A lot of places are like settlements and players can unlock fast travels exploring those places. The settlements can be of allies faction or enemies base. The combat is amazing as it gets interesting and challenging at the same time. It is not just an aim and shoot mechanic; players actually have to line up the bird in the direction while flying and shoot. But to ease that part, there is auto focus that allows you to focus on a specific enemy at a time and then allows you to line up easily. The visuals/framerate on PS5 and Haptic feedback just improves the gameplay experience so much more.
The story is narrative based and is explained in different chapters with different characters, and gives a very different feel. Also, each chapter has multiple side quests/activities and main objectives that are achieved through exploration.
Overall, The Falconeer: Warrior Edition is a great addition to PS5, providing a great exploration and combat based game, with some amazing mechanics unique to the game itself. I would score this 8 stars out of 10.
