The King of Fighters XV is an amazing entry to the series in the current generation in Fighting Game genre by developers SNK.
I have been playing the early The King of Fighter in the age of NES. But looking at how the game has evolved is a treat to the eyes, and also brings back the nostalgia. KoFXV has launched with an amazing roster of characters to choose and play from – there are 39 of them. And KoFXV is here to “shatter all expectations” as their tagline says. Some of the characters are the faces that players might have seen and then there are a few new faces as well to help players enjoy the game with.
The first thing about The King of Fighters XV is the upgrade to the graphics, which I have played after such a long time, amazes me personally. But also they look gorgeous because of such a vibrant art style and colorful characters. It might not be the next gen good, but to the eye of a person who played the previous King of Fighter games, it definitely feels great.
Gameplay is smooth because of the updated engine SNK is using that provides some amazing combat mechanics. The King of Fighters XV does require an active internet connection to play and provides some great tutorials for players new or old to the series. The biggest thing with gameplay for The King of Fighters XV is the team matches mostly, where players will have to adjust to multiple different characters during a single match. Also, you can only get to play the next character in the queue if your current character is defeated. Each player does not get the full health back at the start of the round so here the players will definitely have to add some kind of strategic moves on how to set up the teams.
Overall, the 3-person team will definitely give players some flexibility and get to experience different characters with different play styles. And, with the super moves, the game feels that much more amazing. On top of that, there is a bunch of unlockable content for players to crave for as well. Story provides some amazing challenges and different mission modes provide some amazing replayability. Online play has been great. Not really an Online player myself, but to go against some already established players gives you a great challenge to tackle.
I will definitely recommend The King of Fighters XV for all the arcade fighting genre fans and would give this game a solid 8 stars out of 10.
