The first of the two DLCs, Peril on Gorgon, for the amazing game, The Outer Worlds, is finally out. You can check the review of the base game here.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Division, Peril on Gorgon brings a new quest line and some amazing locations for the players to explore in Halcyon. Players who have already played through the base game will find doing exciting additional quests and as for new players, the new quests perfectly blend into the story and will feel like a part of the Main story itself even though it is not required or related the main story line.
Players will need to have Radio Free Monarch quests completed in order to have the ability to access the quest that will arrive on The Unreliable as a courier, which will have a hand of an old friend of Captain Hawthorne, and with that, a message that will ask you to travel to Gorgon. After discussing with your crew, you start your quest that will take you on an amazing adventure that brings a lot of detective work and killing the usual enemies including marauders, robots, primals, and so on.
Besides a new story in Peril on Gorgon, there are no combat improvements or anything else that is new. If the players know the main story and gameplay they know what to expect, being sneaky or blasting your way through the enemies. The best thing about the DLC is that it introduces some interesting new characters who bring a lot of new info and backstory regarding Halcyon, and a bunch of conversations with the NPCs. For the new players I would suggest to level up a bit with some side quests.
Overall, Peril on Gorgon brings out another amazing story to the table, but unfortunately does not bring anything else to the table that makes the game any better. Obviously, The Outer Worlds is an amazing game in itself and we have loved playing the base game as well as the DLC but it lacks any improvements that we normally expect of a DLC itself.
I would rate Peril on Gorgon 8 out of 10.
