There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension is a point and click puzzle adventure developed and published by Draw Me A Pixel. I’ve played point and click games before in the form of escape room games but this one was pretty unique.
I really enjoyed playing the game *cough cough* non-game. I was a little confused at first because I didn’t listen to the home screen and click on the “this way” button (which actually directs you to quit the game). Instead, I clicked on the “no game here” button so I was questioning if I clicked on the right button for a while. It didn’t help my confusion when the game kept telling me that it wasn’t a game.
There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension is extremely clever and unique. Right from the start, the narrator (named Game) tries to convince you that the game is not a game and desperately tries to get you, the user/player, to quit the “non-game.” Game (the narrator) really grew on me. I thought it was funny how he continuously tries to get you to quit and how annoyed he gets when you keep destroying things/messing up the game environment. I’m going to miss him and his Russian accent (which he definitely convinces you that he doesn’t have).
There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension contains 6 chapters and an epilogue. The objective is to return home to the correct dimension and ultimately to reunite Game and GiGi by completing all the puzzles in all the game dimensions. The reason that you keep getting placed into the wrong dimension is because of Mr. Glitch and his evil plan to … the world (we never know what his plans actually are because of the oh so conveniently timed interruptions).
Throughout the game, you can pick up items by cutting them off something or using other tools. Sometimes items will fall/show up on the bottom of your screen and these can be used to interact with the game environment. I really liked how dropping some of the items actually shakes the entire screen and makes the game objects and characters jump.
I found the game to be really funny. Game continuously insults free2play games in one of the chapters that lets you experience the same pixelated RPG world in the previous chapter/dimension but now where coins and clicking are necessary to get anything done. Going off that, throughout There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension, you, the user, get to experience different game scenarios. The first dimension you stumble upon is a world where Sherlock Holmes and Watson reside in. Then you fall into a pixelated RPG world where characters are not so bright (taken from Game). The other dimensions are sort of miscellaneous. But in one, you can interact with the Creator of the game.
I thought it was pretty cool how you can play different games inside this game. Of course, they’re not the main focus but it lets you play Tetris, Space Shooter, and some others.
I had a great time playing the game. At one point, you see the Creator running across the screen with a black object chasing after him. Lo and behold, it was the smart vacuum attacking the Creator. I had a good laugh at that.
Throughout the game, you can click on the help button and if there are hints on that certain screen then you can unlock them. Once you unlock a hint, another hint can be unlocked after a 10 second wait. The hints are pretty helpful. If you unlock all the hints then basically that’ll give you the knowledge to move past the current puzzle and move on to the next level. There’s no shame in using hints. You’re not limited to any number of hints. Sometimes the puzzles are pretty hard and really require you to think outside the box so hints are necessary.
I do have to say though that sometimes Game (and other characters) rambles and gives hints as he’s talking. That being said, There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension is pretty much all voiced. If you play long enough you can even hear Game sing and GiGi too!
I would rate There Is No Game : Wrong Dimension a 10/10. I may be a little bit biased because I love these types of games but this game is extremely clever and entertaining and really makes you think outside the box. I had a lot of fun playing it and would recommend it. Some may consider it a bit short but there are plenty of achievements to unlock (34 achievements) so you can definitely spend more time trying to get all the achievements and the trading cards.

Steam Review
I'm a sophomore studying Computer Science at the University of Michigan. I'm really interested in how technology can impact lives through game development. One of the things that I really like about gaming is that, not only is it fun and relaxing, but there are so many ideas you can incorporate into games and their storylines such as meaningful lessons/messages.
