Open world games of today come with a variety of mini-games, this is especially true for popular titles. RPGs can also include mini-games that are essential for moving forward with the game progress, while these subgames in open world titles are often part of side-quests and challenges.
The mini-games range from puzzles to casino games and much more. In the classic rockstar game, GTA San Andreas, players can visit a casino, make their bets and win money. Gambling activities have always been a part of crime filled lives of GTA protagonists. In order to win a round of Gwent, the player has to have more points than the other and both players have run out of their cards. Introduced in Yakuza 0, the Disco mini-game has become a fan favorite just like the Karaoke game. The Disco can be played by choosing one of the five songs to match the symbols in the rhythm. Watching Kazuma Kiryu in a dance battle is certainly hilarious and once you master the rhythm, you’ll always be itching to show off your moves. Truly a must play mini-game in the series.
