Ubisoft Unveils Year 11 Roadmap for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

At the Six Invitational this past weekend, Ubisoft enthralled audiences around the world with a number of significant announcements that reflected its plans for the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege seasons. With changes to Ranked and a new competitive mode, R6 ShieldGuard anti-cheat enhancements, and captivating new content to keep players interested every season, our ambitious Year 11 strategy places a strong emphasis on the core gameplay offer. These updates, which begin with the March 3 release of Season One: Operation Silent Hunt, further the team’s dedication to community priorities and bolstering the fundamental 5v5 experience to support its ongoing development as a premier tactical shooter.

Ubisoft Unveils Year 11 Roadmap for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Solid Snake, a formidable new permanent Operator from KONAMI’s renowned METAL GEAR SOLID series, appears in Year 11’s Season 1 of Operation Silent Hunt. Players will have access to a brand-new secondary weapon—the renowned handgun TACIT.45, a semi-automatic pistol with an integrated silencer designed for covert operations—as well as an intelligence collecting device never seen in Siege thanks to this iconic attacker. In order to give attacking players the upper hand in a battle, Solid Snake blends stealth, agility, and tactical intelligence.

Joshua Mills, Creative Director, stated “We’re excited to bring the world of METAL GEAR SOLID series into Rainbow Six Siege with Season 1’s new Redacted event, a limitedtime 4v4 infiltration mode where Snake and Zero lead a team of elite Operators to recover stolen data. Players will also discover exclusive skins such as Jackal as Gray Fox and Ash as Meryl, and we’re thrilled to have David Hayter lend his iconic voice to Snake’s ingame cues. The team also went a step further with ‘Last Assignment’, a new mission for Dual Front designed as a special nod to longtime METAL GEAR SOLID series fans.”

Siege is also adding a brand-new, two-week-long 1v1 mode to the Arcade playlist for Season 1. Short, intense rounds that focus on movement, mechanical skill, and solo gunplay will pit players against one another. Players can test their technical dueling prowess or challenge friends or random internet players in this fast-paced duel mode that reduces Siege to its most basic elements. Three updated maps will also be released, including Oregon, Coastline, and Villa, which will have better graphics and new destructible components. After a final METAL GEAR SOLID series themed event, the Siege team finally revealed that Season 1 will be Dual Front’s final season and that this mode will be eliminated. Another milestone in the team’s renewed emphasis on the fundamental 5v5 experience is the elimination of Dual Front. This change guarantees that the team’s efforts, enabled by the crucial technology created for—and through—Dual Front, will continue to benefit players of the core Siege experience. Last but not least, Season 1 introduces a new seasonal cadence with two Ranked map rotations and four balance updates. It also has a meta that focuses on Entry and Roaming and is fueled by modifications to Skopos, Alibi, and Ela.

Numerous additional elements will be added in Seasons 2, 3, and 4, elevating the gameplay to a distinctive experience. An additional layer of anti-cheat protection will be added to the PC with the incorporation of a Secure boot, called R6 ShieldGuard Secure Platform. Its goal is to improve security in areas where maintaining competitiveness is crucial. As part of her strengthened combat identity, Dokkaebi will transform into a high-pressure intel-denial Attacker in Season 2, which will also feature an Operator remaster from Y11. A brand-new map honoring Rainbow’s legendary Vegas heyday, Calypso Casino, will also be released this season. When it is launched, this map will be accessible in Ranked mode and was created with today’s competitive standards in mind. The squad will get a brand-new Defender, a formidable counter shield Operator, before the start of Season 3. Siege will introduce a new 3v3 arcade mode for a two-week period, as well as a brand-new long-term progression system called Operator Mastery* that will enable leveling every Operator. The game’s fundamental 5v5 competitive foundation and experience will be enhanced with the new competitive playlist Legend Division, which will also debut in Season 3. It is a solo-queue playlist that only allows the greatest players to win. Three updated maps per season will be included in the Y11 upgrades.

Lastly, the Social HUB will be revealed in Season 4. Regardless of the platform they choose, it will give gamers an in-game area to communicate with friends, send invites, and manage their squad. Season 4 will include a revamp of Hostage to make sure it adheres to Siege’s tactical DNA and functions competitively. Later this year, Season 4’s complete details will be revealed.

In a community livestream, Siege’s Player Protection team discussed their Year 11 priorities before the Year 11 unveiling. You can check out the YEAR 11 PLAYER PROTECTION blogpost.
