In its most recent update 14.7, Wargaming, the creator and publisher of the popular historically accurate naval multiplayer game World of Warships, is commemorating 80 years since the end of World War II. Special Premium Tier VIII American cruiser San Diego is one of the ships and exclusive gifts that New Operations is offering to celebrate the milestone. Plus, players can undertake the construction of Tier X American premium destroyer USS Laffey in the Dockyard, and a Content Rarity system joins the Armory to round out a sea of new updates for World of Warships.

“In The Name of Tomorrow”: New World of Warships Operations to Honor the Second World War’s End
World of Warships is launching three new operations that showcase the war’s historic development in honor of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The “In The Name of Tomorrow” event spans three weeks, during which players can finish the Pacific Offensive, Tokyo Express, and Arctic Convoy operations, each of which is available at a time. With a range of goals such as escorting convoys, conducting stealth raids, and destroying reinforced enemy stations, each operation can accommodate up to seven people. The Tier VIII American cruiser Cleveland and the Tier VI French cruiser La Galissonnière are available for rent to help those venturing out on the seven seas.
Following the three weeks, all Operations will reappear for a final week, enabling players to finish them again with more stringent tier and nation constraints. In order to go through a unique story campaign that unlocks several rewards and adds to the new ’39-’45 Chronicles Collection, players will receive stars as they accomplish Operation objectives. These include the American Commander, Robert Adams, a new enemy destruction effect called Underwater Explosion, and a Special End of WWII skin for the Tier IX American battleship Iowa. Players can follow the trip of the premium Tier VIII American cruiser San Diego, the final prize for those who finish the event, during WWII throughout the full update.

“The Ship That Would Not Die” joins the Dockyard
According to the most recent information, the USS Laffey, a Tier X American Premium destroyer, is being built in 20 stages at the Dockyard. Known for its long service during World War II, the ship participated in important events including the Battle of Okinawa and the Normandy landings. The latter earned the moniker “The Ship That Would Not Die” after surviving four direct bomb hits and six kamikaze attacks.
Although Laffey’s 127mm guns may not be very potent, they work in tandem with a robust toolset that enables excellent concealment, improved defensive AA fire, and an improved Specialized Repair Teams consumable for World of Warships players. To help with some of her shortcomings, Laffey also incorporates short-range torpedoes, a time-based Smoke Generator, and a variation of the Burst Fire mechanism.
The Content Rarity System Welcomed by the Armory
Color-coded rarity grades for ships, camouflages, and opponent damage effects are being added to the Armory by the Content Rarity System. Players may quickly assess item differences and determine the rarity of their unlocks thanks to this system. The August update for World of Warships concludes with two new flags and new achievements for Clan Battles Season 31. This system will also be accessible as part of the Captain’s Log Book in addition to entering the Armory.
