WARLANDER Review for Steam

Warlander is a medieval fantasy style MOBA game developed by Toylogic and published by PLAION. I have played many different MOBA games over the years, and Warlander felt different, it could make or break the MOBA genre, not really a great start but it has some fun moments.

WARLANDER Review for Steam

Warlander has different play modes: a 2 army battle and a 5 army battle. The game can have anywhere from between 40-100 players, which are sorted automatically. Players can choose from 3 different classes with unique weapons and abilities of their own, Warrior, Clerics, and Mages.

Warriors are melee specials and tankers that can deal huge damage. Warriors are amazing at being on the front line. Clerics are like a support class with healing and buff supports mostly. And lastly, the Mages are havoc dealers with massive AoE and long-range attacks.

The game starts with each player selecting one of the three classes and, as players gain more points, they can unlock separate builds for the characters but unlocked higher tiered character builds have its own cooldown so even if you can unlock them you will have to wait before you can use the builds.

There are a few maps available that are a good amount in size and, for the player, the difference is on which side they are joining from. There are multiple ways for players to provide their contribution, either by completing the objectives or destroying the enemy’s core. Most of the game is for players to get the title drops that are like tiers for the character class as mentioned before.

Overall, Warlander is a great MOBA, but over the time after a few matches it gets a little uninteresting, though devs have tried to introduce their own way to keep the game interesting and make it balanced as much as possible. But Warlander is free to try and definitely worth a try.

Score: 8/10.

Warlander is free-to-play for PC via Steam.
