Why the eSports Industry is Growing During these Turbulent Times

In accordance with Forbes, the most valuable eSports company is TSM, valued at $410 million with 50% of revenue being generated from eSports. While the pandemic has slowed down the in-person attendance of exciting eSports events, the online version has grown even more popular.

Take, for example, Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six eSports that broke Season 2020 records during the kickoff of Season 2021 across all four regions: the European League, Asia-Pacific League, Latin-American League and North American League. Ubisoft contributes their online eSports success to several factors. Major incentive for online viewers is the reward system allowing for the addition of Twitch drops. Viewership has also been made convenient by streaming the events across four regions, allowing more fans to participate. In addition, the online eSports events are catered to engaging the viewers like never before by streamlining the storytelling, broadcast production, as well as reinforcing the quality and competitiveness across all four regions.

And let’s not overlook the 2021 BRAWLHALLA eSports program, which features a $1 million dollar total prize pool. The popularity of this online event enables players across the globe to participate in several championships, including The Spring Championship, happening now throughout May; the Summer Championship, happening online this July; The Autumn Championship, happening online during September and October, and the finale – the World Championship, which will take place in November (online or in person has not been decided yet).
