Introduction/Information about Windrose

WINDROSE Preview for Steam

Windrose is a game, developed and published by Windrose Crew, that plans to release on Steam, with a free demo out now. In this PvE survival adventure game, players will fight on land and sea and build and craft different items and panels, all while exploring the vast world filled with dark secrets to uncover. While survival types of games don’t really interest me, this one actually seemed like a lot more fun. I think the appeal of being in the age of pirates definitely helped. When playing through the demo, I found myself actually enjoying the survival aspects and building what I need to survive, as well as just exploring the island and seas. After playing through the demo of Windrose, I would say this game is so far a fun survival adventure game that I can see being perfect for groups of friends to work together and explore in.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Windrose involved a lot of exploration and crafting in order to survive. To start players out, they are the captain of their own ship with a great crew. That becomes short-lived, however, because they start out being raided and attacked. Here, the game teaches players the very basics of combat. With a weapon equipped, they can attack enemies and block their attacks. There is also a stamina and block gauge for attacking and defending. If they deplete, there will be trouble, so make sure to keep an eye on both when fighting. The combat here is simpler but easy to understand. Makes learning everything in the game feel less overwhelming, which I feel a lot of players can appreciate. After learning how to fight and trying to fight off the raid, players get thrown overboard, only to wake up shipwrecked on an island. No ship. No crew members in sight. All alone at square one. Here, the game will teach players how to craft and survive, starting with crafting the essentials. First off, a bonfire. Bonfires allow players to rest up and, in doing so, grant less use of stamina during different actions. Second up, a workbench and a cooking fire, so players can craft more and cook food that gives them perks and satisfies hunger. Lastly, a tent. Tents and beds act as a respawn point, so when players die, they will end up right back at their camp. Once these are all crafted, players are all set and can explore wherever they want on the island. Explore to gather different materials, gear, and items until they are able to get to a real ship, ready to explore the vast sea.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe the game demo for Windrose is a fun pirate survival adventure and would be a great game to play with friends. While survival games aren’t necessarily my favorite, I think this one definitely left a better impression on me than most. The exploration was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see more. If you and your friends are looking for a new survival adventure game to venture through, then I would recommend downloading the demo for Windrose, which is out now on Steam. If players enjoy the game, they can also wishlist the game so they are notified when it comes out.
