Wargaming, the publisher and developer of the popular multiplayer naval battle MMO, World of Warships, is bringing a packed Spring update with a legendary United States warship dropping anchor in a new dockyard. That’s right, the USS Wisconsin finally makes her way into the virtual seas! Kicking off with a special stream Wargaming will also be partnering with Nauticus in Norfolk, VA to celebrate the real USS Wisconsin’s 80th Commissioning Anniversary.
The USS Wisconsin Debuts in World of Warships
Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the legendary ship’s launch, the USS Wisconsin debuts as a Tier X battleship in World of Warships. Joining her sister ships the USS Iowa and USS Missouri, this warship boasts great accuracy, high speed, and access to consumables like Spotter or Fighter Planes and defensive AA fire.
This new addition to the World of Warships arsenal can be obtained via a brand new Dockyard campaign in mid-April where players will earn rewards along the way, including an additional opportunity to earn the Tier VII West Virginia ’44 Battleship for those who may have missed out on her last summer.
This Dockyard campaign will last through update 13.6 so players will have plenty of time to earn the USS Wisconsin along with many other rewards!
Nauticus Celebrates the Big Wisky‘s 80th
In tandem with the dockyard in-game event, Nauticus, a Maritime Discovery Center in Norfolk, VA, will be hosting a celebration during the month of April for the USS Wisconsin’s 80th Commissioning Anniversary. World of Warships will be sponsoring complimentary tickets for active duty and veteran service members as part of this anniversary, in addition to discounted tickets for dependents. To reserve complimentary tickets and to learn more about the offer, please visit Nauticus’ website.
“We sincerely appreciate World of Warship’s support of complimentary tickets for Veterans and active duty service members throughout the Battleship’s 80th Anniversary month of April,” said Rehn West, Director of Development & Marketing at Nauticus. “Their support of the USS Wisconsin strengthens our connection to the local military community and this generous gesture embodies the spirit of our mission of sharing access to maritime resources to our area and beyond!”
“At Wargaming, we’re passionate about preserving naval history and honoring the legacy of these incredible vessels. Supporting ship museums is our way of ensuring that the deeds, sacrifices and achievements of past generations are never forgotten,” said Artur Plociennik, Regional Publishing Director. “We are honored to be a part of the USS Wisconsin’s 80th-anniversary celebration and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Nauticus Museum to inspire future generations and educate them about the significance of our shared naval heritage.”
Tune in on the 20th of March at 5PM to 7PM CST on the Twitch channel of World of Warships for a special stream, live from the USS Wisconsin, where the team of World of Warships and the Nauticus will present the festivities.
