Matt Stockman (Events Manager, VisitTulsa):
“Excitement doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about this weekend. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this event so that people in the Heartland can finally have a large game festival to call their own. This is going to be the first of many XPO Game Festivals, so let’s make it one for the history books!”
Everything gaming will be featured at XPO including: sessions from industry legends such as Jacky Ke Jiang (thatgamecompany) and Tramell Isaac (Boss Key Productions); retro lounge where you can enjoy a massive collection of old-school arcade games, Indie Alley showcasing some of the most unique independent games from around the world; LAN parties, laser tag, concerts, afterparties, and more. Attendees will even be able to experience the future of gaming in a special virtual reality (VR) environment — or witness a piece of history through the mythical Nintendo PlayStation prototype.
If you’re a tactile gamer, be sure to stop by the tabletop gaming area where you can enjoy games like MAGIC: THE GATHERING, YU-GI-OH!, and POKEMON. If you’ve ever wanted to try out some of these iconic games, or see what they’re all about, now’s your chance to play with other like-minded folks. There’s even going to be a MAGIC: THE GATHERING Kaladesh pre-release tournament on Saturday at noon!
Wichita eSports has organized several PC tournaments that will take place throughout the festival where even the most competitive gamers can show their skills. You can build the best deck in HEARTHSTONE ($250 daily prize), work co-operatively in LEAGUE OF LEGENDS ($2,150 grand prize), and test your reflexes in OVERWATCH ($650 grand prize) in FREE tournaments. Console tournaments include STREET FIGHTER V and SMASH BROS. WII U ($1,000 prize each).
The XPO Game Festival will take place September 23-25, 2016 at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Attendees can buy tickets online or at the door — but hurry … because time is running out! 🙂
