Yoga Retreat, the world’s first yoga-themed mobile simulation game, launches an in-game breathing feature Heart & Breath in App Stores worldwide. Finnish developer Gajatri Studios is the first to integrate measuring devices to mobile game and offer playful breathing exercises verified by heart rate data
February 5th, 2015, Helsinki, Finland – Gajatri Studios, Finnish mobile games and applications company developing yoga themed mobile game Yoga Retreat, today announced Hearth & Breath, an in-game feature that challenges players for a daily breathing practice. Yoga Retreat is the first game to introduce a functionality that combines playful healthy content, a heart rate measuring device and a mobile device into one experience.
“Playful and useful applications that utilize heart rate monitors or smart watches integrated to mobile devices are our focus this year,” Gajatri Studios Founder and CEO Tiina Zilliacus says. “Yoga Retreat game’s objective is to inspire and motivate real health impact in player’s life so adding heart rate data verified breathing challenges to a yoga themed game felt like a natural next step.”
In Yoga Retreat, players embark on a journey where they manage their own yoga retreat on a tropical paradise island. The game is free-to-play and offers in-app purchases. In addition to simulation gaming and yoga self practice videos, players can now practice breathing via the Heart & Breath feature, with a new, playful breathing exercise available every day for 24 days. Players can visibly see how breathing influences heart rate when doing the practices and they are also able to follow development of their practice via statistics.
“Breathing is at the very core of yoga and mindfulness. Deep diaphragmatic breathing enables us to be more present, improves focus, takes care of our heart, and even reduces stress. It’s fun, super-easy and can be done where ever, whenever. Both Eastern and Western medical traditions back its benefits. Even three minutes a day can make a difference,” Zilliacus concludes.
Yoga Retreat has been played by over 1M players worldwide. The game is available to download for iOS and Android devices:
Heart & Breath feature is now available for iOS devices that support Bluetooth 4.0: iPhone (6 Plus, 6, 5s, 5c, 5 & 4s), iPad (Air, Mini, 3rd & 4th gen), iPod touch. Android version of the game will have Heart & Breath functionality very soon.
